Based on thoughtful conversations about the health and well-being of our community, the vulnerability of our Type 1 Diabetic population, we are monitoring event and Gala Covid-19 standards frequently and are in the process of planning a celebration when it is safe for all.
Alongside our deep love for Tucson, we are acutely aware of the compromised realities for anyone who has Type 1, or any auto immune disease. In addition to being as safe as possible, hosting a celebration too soon would likely mean many would not be able to attend. This includes some of our board members and their families.
The mission of the University of Arizona Steele Children’s Research Center is to teach, to heal and to discover. The center is focused on exploring ways to better understand Type 1 Diabetes in order to predict, prevent and better treat this chronic disease.
We look forward to celebrating our stellar slate of Father of The Year Honorees. Their commitment to family, their dedication to community, and their professional leadership inspire us all.

“In the current environment surrounding COVID-19, I completely understand and support the Father’s Day Council plan to wait for next year to host their annual gala. The safety of the immune-compromised Type 1 population is our greatest priority.”
